Winshield replacement

Yup.. cracked right across from a stone chip. Has anyone replaced the winshield yet? I've called 2 of my glass guys and apparently there is no aftermarket yet and I have to get the glass from the dealer and no it is not cheap at all. Oddly enough it is cheaper in Canada versus the US. 440 in Canada and 904 in the states... very weird.

Bummer, no chips yet for me.

Does not your insurance cover glass?
It does but I was quoted 600 installed for paying out of pocket outside of insurance and if I go through insurance I have a 500 deductible so for an extra 100 and avoid the claim it's worth it. I really thought there would be an aftermarket for like 200-300. Sucks! Apparently I have to wait 3-4 months for someone to release something I'm just getting annoyed at this eyesore
Wow that much. gebis Crisp! The after market has to catch up or something D:

I remember when I was on the old suby sites they talked about lightweight windshields like plexiglass but it'd be bad for the fronts cause they scratch.. I forgot what company does custom ones..
Though I wish you luck on getting it fixed!
Yeah, there's no aftermarket replacement parts yet. I just had the back of my car replaced from the rear wheels back. Every bit of it had to ship from Japan and it took about a month to get all the parts in before the work could even be done.

I just had had mine patched up yesterday. Those **** trucks!

Cost me $50 with insurance discount. Mine was about less than a quarter size crack but it is annoying to look at it.
Ya it started with a large chip driving from Toronto to Buffalo. The minute I got to Buffalo I went to a glass place to get it filled so I didn't risk it spreading the whole way back to toronto later that evening and unfortunately it couldn't handle the pressure and spread immediately. I wasn't charged for anything just left with this. It's ok I knew there was a risk of this happening during the repair
Today, I changed my comprehensive deductible from $500 to $100. Paying extra $2 in a month I think is worth it.
Any update on your windshield? It really sucks for these new model to look for replacement parts this early.
