White Dash Trim

I have the white dash trim and I want to know if anyone other than Grumpy has done anything with it or has some ideas? I think I would make it black. How does it come off?

It is an odd color piece. My biggest head-scratcher of the interior.

A material wrap should work, as well as a leather dye kit for a more permanent color change.
Pop the panel around the radio off then that whole panel, the white strip and the panel above it, comes off. There are some Phillips screws on the back side to remove the white strip.
Good thing you responded with that.. I would've assumed it was just clips and gone to town..
Yea I plan to do something w/ this piece too...
After seeing this thread, I couldn't stand looking at the awkward white trim anymore so I added more white trim to balance it out. :)

Nice touch. Is that piece removable or did you do it in place?
Surprisingly the pieces on the main panel all pop off (held in by clips, no screws).

First, pop off the bezel around the radio unit (piano finish)
Second, pop off the large panel that encompass the far right A/C vent. This includes the lower white trim. Be careful with the lower left hand corner when doing this.
Third, pop off the black trim that run along the center A/C vents (piece to be painted).

The piece to the left of the steering wheel pops off as well. Pop off the vertical piece first follow by the A/C vent. Unfortunately the top portion to be painted doesn't separate from the vent. I had to masked it off to paint.

I should have documented the process with pics. Sorry.

Thanks, something new to do.
Some of you guys might want to invest in interior pry tools just to ensure you don't damage anything. The $10 or whatever it is for them can go a long way.
Yup... pry tools and a microfiber just to be extra safe
and now your white stitching looks out of place.
Yea that is kinda out of place now. Kinda leads to nowhere
the white bugged me so i took care of it..
yep black looks better!!
corollas are black from factory

What did you use to turn yours black? I used dye and the leather looks like it had splotchy looking designs in it so the black dye turned it black but also amplified the splotchy design it seems to have. It’s more of a scaly kind of look if that makes sense. I think I wanted more of a flat black look similar to how yours looks.

Looks good. The white accent strip is something I actually love about the interior. It reminds me of a lightening bolt. I do like what you did though.

I agree. White is something special about the interior. I do like it. Especially when you have white exterior that matches it.

My iM is sliver classic metallic but the whit strip still looks amazing to me. :D
So I actually ripped off the white vinyl and painted the plastic underneath black, it looks much better.
