You could say that lol.
I can tell you though, that list would have been quite a bit shorter if we hadn't of had and unexpected surprise in 2012. My wife became pregnant with our 3rd child days after getting that 2012 Elantra limited. We held out but the leather made her nauseous as she gets extremely bad morning sickness when she's pregnant. We also now needed something bigger since we would have 3 kids. So instead of trading the brand new Elantra and being thousands in negative equity, I had to trade my Yaris. I absolutely loved that Yaris. I don't know why, I just did. It was basic and I new it would run forever. So the Elantra became my daily driver and we traded the Yaris on a Nissan Quest.
Having that Elantra really screwed me up though. I had it for a couple years but never loved it like I did the Yaris. I hated the interior color mostly and i wanted to lower my payment. They quit making those Yaris sedans and I couldn't bring myself to go from a 2012 to a 2010 to get back into a yaris sedan so I briefly looked at the new Yaris hatchbacks, but they didn't get as good mpg as the Elantra did (I driving about 60 miles a day) so I went with the Prius C instead.
I allowed the opinions of others to get to me and I didn't like flooring it just to get up a hill (and several other reasons that just wore me down) so after only 2 months I traded that Prius C in on a 2013 Elantra GT (the hatchback Elantra). This one had a black leather interior which I prefer. It had all the packages ( Nav, panoramic sunroof, etc).
Shortly after I got it, I got the mod bug and learned about plasti-dip. I did the grills, rims, and emblems. I then got a cold air intake. This grew in to a desire to have something with more power. Seeing 1000s of FR-S on the road didn't help. I sat in an FR-S and realized the back seat is literally just decoration as no one could ever sit in it, and that 200hp really isn't impressive (I test drove and was not amused...and definitely didn't want to put premium in it driving 60 miles a day). I almost bought a Mustang but the Ford dealership couldn't even come close to the carmax appraisal on my Elantra GT and they had zero desire to work with me on it. After several weeks of flip flopping on decisions and desires, I would say I settled on a Scion tC. I wanted white but there were no white ones available at the two closest Toyota dealerships, so I got blue.
The Prius, Elantra GT, and tC were all purchased in 2014. Eventually after having the tC, I slowly came back to reality. I had it until last Monday. (About 2 1/2 years). I came back to reality that I needed something with 4 doors and that was practical...and better mpg would be nice. Ultimately after several weeks of research, I narrowed it down to 2 cars...an iA or an iM.
I would have been happy with the iA I believe. But I found this iM at CarMax for a much better price than I could get my hands on an iA. Plus I am not sure long term I would have liked the mazda feel of the iA. I asked my wife and she said I would look better in the iM, so off to CarMax I went. She always said I would have looked good in a Matrix also, which this is kind of the next generation Matrix.
I think I am finally in the same spot I was in with my old Yaris. I know I have a dependable car that will last forever, gets decent mpg, and is practical for me. It's currently at about 14050 miles. I would really like to see 200k. Here's to commitment. Lol.
