Trans oil

So I was thinking the other day how everyone is changing their engine oil before the recommended time and thought why doesn't anyone change their Trans oil? I'm speaking manual trans but if you think about it there are way more parts that are in contact with each other in the trans compared to the engine and there is no filter in it. You figure there's the syncros, the gears themselves, bearings and no filter. So what is a top quality gear oil? I'm changing mine out after a couple of thousand miles. I would think after the break in it would be fine but I'm sure there are plenty of shavings and little filings in there in the beginning. Am I crazy? Maybe, but I'm curious if anybody has actually tested this.

I am thinking about changing mine as well. Toyota is very vague on the manual transmission fluid type, our car owner's manual says SAE 75W. After spending a few hours researching the subject, I found this on Amazon:

RAVENOL J1C1003 SAE 75W Manual Transmission Fluid - MTF-3 Full Synthetic (1 Liter)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QPCL7ZE/

Since we need 2.4 quarts, we probably need to buy 3 bottles.

Reviews are all good, the fluid is full synthetic and German made, so it should be at least as good as Toyota OEM fluid, but I expect it to be better.

I replace my gear oil on all of my MT cars every 30k miles and I use Redline synthetic gear oils. They do have different types so I would check with them on what they suggest for the 6MT in the iM.
