The official de-badge thread

Hey

I realize that there is actually not much badging on the car, but is anyone going to de-badge the iM logo from the back?

I will probably take if off and see if I like it off. If not I will put it back on.

Also, anyone going to rebadge the car as a Toyota? I actually like the brushed look of the scion badges so will probably leave them.

Pics to come when I get the car and the badge off.

I am planning on re-badging to the Australian Toyota Corolla Levin ZR, but not this show season. Hopefully by spring all the parts needed will be readily available. Everything is tough to find right now.

Would you ever consider rebadging it as an Auris or just going to completely remove the iM logo?

I have a feeling we're going to see some people badging it as an Auris.
I wouldn't rebadge. I would consider taking the badge off if it looks good, but I don't want to pretend its a Toyota.

Will most likely take the im badge off, and see how I like the scion badges. May look at replacing the scion badges with Toyota badges and no model badges.

We will see.

Now that is something i'm in for seeing. I have a feeling we're going to see more owners doing just that than they are to do anything else with vinyl.
Gloss is what they should have done to that red iM above, would look far better as gloss flows better with the rest of the black than matte does.

Hello

Debadged the car yesterday. I took a few pics. Sorry for the potato quality shots in bad light.

Tool used, before, during, and after.

Thanks

How did you manage to get rid of the rest of that grey gunk from the iM badge?

Take a heat gun to it and apply some heat, nice and easy otherwise you'll wreck your name plate or use a hairdryer. The stuff is just double-sided sticky tape.

Goo Gone Sprayer from walmart. apply a few times and wipe it off nicely

any idea if that stuff is bad on wax, could it be what will strip wax off paint?

You should wash and re-wax atleast the area that you sprayed the goo gone on.
Yeah I figured, really can't go wrong in adding more wax, just 15 minutes, you favorite wax, wax pads, microfiber and some elbow grease :D
Sometimes debadging makes the car look incomplete or sketchy, but taking off the iM looks really good in my opinion. The Scion badge sticks around. Getting rid of the iM badge makes it seem like a generic model, in a good way. There is one trim level, few options. I like how less badges with "eco, tec, blue, 4, blah blah" don't have a place there.
