TFL took both the manual and CVT Scion iM to Thunder Mountain to see which one is faster. They run a quarter mile against each other, and guess which one wins?
...
It's the manual.
But watch it happen here.
Seems like it would make sense that they just go with the base model without any mods. From everything I've read, and also from what I see here, the manual is much more fun to drive. It's also cheaper, so as long as you know don't how to drive manual, it seems like the manual is the better choice. He obviously didn't do the air intake mod.
The iM is cheaper than a Civic would be, but the Civic is more powerful. You could invest that extra money you would have spent on a Civic and buy some upgrades for the iM to try to up the power.I'm glad someone has done this...
Man... 19 seconds my last car was running 12.6 - 12.7 consistently
Not going to lie I am having some serious regrets in the power category especially after seeing the new Civics ... I think I should have waited another 6 months... :crying:
Freaking out isn't good. Once you practice it becomes second nature. Like riding a bike.I like my CVT.. I would drive a manual if I didnt have such bad anxiety attacks. I tried learning manual a few times but every time Id have to stop because I was freaking out lol. I like the M mode in the CVT because now someone like me can enjoy driving manually with out having to worry about all the issues that come with driving manual.
But to each there own.. fast or not its still a sweet little car Imo.
