Got it in yesterday. Getting to that back bolt was a pain.

Anyone know the proper Torque for the strut nuts?

Ya, I have 'em tight for now.
Your engine bay is coming together real nicely. The Tanabe piece looks pretty sturdy. Have you tried pushing on it to try and flex it ?
Thanks

Ya, it is really strong
I was gonna say ditch the plastic cover and do something w/ the Valve Cover....Then realized how "ugly" the VC is and what a mess too...haha

I dont like how they laid out the tubes and stuff in the engine bay too!

9. INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
(a) Install the front shock absorber with coil spring (upper side) and front fender apron rear extension
with the 3 nuts.
Torque:
50 N·m {510 kgf·cm, 37 ft·lbf}

I'll have to go double check, thanks. :)
Just fine

Plastic cover is just fine for me.
So two days of running around and I can confirm that this is a very worthy upgrade.

The iM is already a pretty good cornering car, this strut bar makes it even better.

Just for ppl who need to do it them selves their strut bar installed.. link to video https://youtu.be/u3F6QxCzm-s

Just be aware, the DC Sports requires more work to install. You have to remove the entire wiper cowl whereas the Tanabe does not.

I ordered the Mid Brace, waiting for it to arrive.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure it'll be a fun & easy experience once putting the Tanabe drop springs in at the same time. I'm holding off on modding till my last free oil change (My parts tease me everytime I look at them waiting to get be installed) lol

Was told The TB performance Brace would take about 2 weeks to get done as he is a one man show welder and it's made to order.. He then gets it painted then ships it out. But can't wait for it to get here as well!

Just emailed them and mine should be shipped in the next few days.

Doesn't the iM come with a factory FSB that is also mounted to the firewall? I looked the other day on my new iM and I thought that I felt one under the cowl.

There is something there, but it is not tied into the suspension

Thanks. The first thing I usually do with every car I buy is add a upper front strut brace, rear sway bar and lowering springs. Right now I'm just trying to figure out what is avail be for the iM at this point.

The diagram here references the front sway bar:
https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.c...ension-cat/stabilizer-bar-and-components-scat
and also here:
https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.c...ont-suspension-cat/suspension-components-scat
might give some guidance on finding it.

Also references the rear one as well:
https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.c...ension-cat/stabilizer-bar-and-components-scat

Checked the part numbers against other models. For the front, the model number is similar between the iM, tC, and Corolla S - but not the same. On the rear, the suspension for the Corolla is completely different, but the part number for the iM and tC is the exact same.

Might be worth looking into a little more for the front, but the rear should be a direct fit.

Part Numbers:
Front
iM 48811-12a10
S 48811-ab011
tC 48811-47060
Rear
iM 48812-12380
tC 48812-12380

Should be a good complement to the strut bar.

It's pretty simple if you remove the wiper cowl. It only takes 5-10 minutes with some 10mm bolts and clips. You then get perfect access and you can properly torque the nuts. ;)
