Stereo software updates

Had a quick look through the forum and have been googling for an answer but coming up with nothing.

Are there any software/firmware updates for the Pioneer stereo in our iM's; either for the stereo or even Gracenote?

Thanks!

NO I'M NOT. Google it.
I'm going to have to partially retract myself but it doesn't change that there's no inter compatibility between the units. I was reading the software license and yeaaaaaa, it's running on a Linux base. I doubt anyone's willing to invest any time hacking through the system the way they have on Mazdas, though (different units running somewhat similar software throughout the entire Toyota lineup as opposed to 100% the same throughout for Mazda).
After reading the posts on this forum and visiting the Pioneer website, the best solution would be to replace the pioneer avh-2558 with another Pioneer unit. It would be plug and play. There are comparable units for a reasonable price on EBay. The back-up camera, antennae would all connect.

I mention this because I was surprised how many Scion owners replaced the factory unit with an aftermarket unit (usually Pioneer). Before buying my I/M, I shopped for a used XD. But I got the I/M because I had driven the Auris in Europe and really liked it.

Good luck with whatever solution you choose.

The stock unit is pretty good, but some people want more.
So, anyone figure this out yet? Called Toyota, and they don't even know how to update the firmware or map....
pioneer avh-2558

resurrecting an old thread.
I recently bought a 2016 Scion IM and contemplation replacing the stock radio not that its good, i want android auto to mirror my android phone to the radio.

Is this the stock unit model: pioneer avh-2558?
Can anybody recommend an Android-Auto unit that is PLUG-N-PLAY.

Thanks

Crutchfield is the go-to source in what fits and also what adapters you need. https://www.crutchfield.com/g_300/All-Car-Stereos.html?tp=5684

There is nothing special with the iM, but if I recall you will need a mounting kit to make this work.

I do not believe there is a Plug-N-Play head unit for our car, unfortunately, but maybe the new GT-86's head unit would though.
