I believe that the whisteling noise is coming from the vortex creator right where the side mirrors are. Its like a capsule sticking out.

I think something as simple as cleaning that area and going over it with a clay bar, then finishing it off by waxing will go a long way in reducing that sound. Just something to try which won't cost much. It allows for air to pass by without resistance.

You can just actually cover the vortex pill with a piece of cardboard and a tape and drive it... Simple:)

I did further research and found out that the latest generation corollas are are also experiencing this whistle noise also and noticed that the corollas also have these vtex pills. I made a card board cut-out (as seen on picture) to cover these vortex pills and sealed it with tape. I drove it on the freeway and no more whistle noise... I know its not the proper solution but I believe this is where the sound coming from.

Also, this is the case for my car that I tested. Not sure if results will be the same for others.

(I know I took a picture of passenger side but I covered both sides)

Not my car, I just found that video when I was looking to see if anyone else had my dash rattles. Ask the uploader, I wouldn't know.
Late Response Here BUT Yes, My Dash Kinda Rattles. I purchases 2016 Scion iM used.

It also makes a strange sound after putting in drive on a cold start, and start moving. Like landing gears for wheels are being engaged. It sounds like it comes from bottome of steering column but inside the Driver Wheel Area. It sounds weird but anyone else have this issue?
