[Scion iM News]

While Scions initial announcement was that the iM and iA would be available in dealerships across Canada and the US on September 1, cars have begun showing up 2 weeks early.

Get out there and get testing!!

This thread is bunk. I called those dealers and they don't have any iMs. The photos you see are from a training event where Toyota brought the cars to train them with.

Some of these posts say you can test drive them though. Maybe that was just for the day that they were around.

Well that doesn't make the thread 'bunk'... they did arrive at dealerships early... the issue isn't the thread but perhaps the misleading posts on social media by these business'...

It appears that cars are showing up at dealers, sometimes to stay, but they are not for sale yet.


I did put a deposit on an actual car, but it has not arrived yet and I am not clear if I will be able actually by it before September 1st.

None of the posts say you can buy it now. You can reserve one. It says you can test drive it. I don't think they are really lying about anything.

Asked a local Bergen County, NJ dealer if he had the new Scion models. He said not yet, but avail early Sept and also stated that I could take one for a 24-hr test (we just purchased a new Camry XLE for the wife). MY interest is for the IM.

I would keep contacting dealers in the meantime. Sometimes they are even surprised when a truck pulls up.

I had read on another forum that Scion is able to sell a car as soon as it reaches their dealership... don't know how much truth there is too it, seems little as your situation counteracts that...

I just got a call that the iM I put a deposit on is going to be in tomorrow ! I asked him about the September sales date thing and he knew nothing about it. Seems there is general confusion out there.

Anyway, I may decide not to get it and perhaps wait until the possible Scion crossover because of the low passenger seat height that won't work with my handicap passengers.

Sounds like depending on the dealer, maybe even the rep, there's potential to get into an iM a wee bit early
