According to a Toyota Press Release promoted by Edmunds the iM and iA will both be on dealer floors come September 1 2015...

TORRANCE, California — The all-new 2016 Scion iM hatchback and 2016 Scion iA sedan will arrive at Scion dealerships on September 1, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. announced on Monday.

The 2016 Scion iM starts at $19,255 for the six-speed manual-transmission model, while the continuously variable transmission model starts at $19,995. Pricing includes a $795 destination charge.

I would wait for actual pictures or confirmation from the dealer. One of my local dealers shows two in stock but a drive by and email from them said they are not there yet.

Probably best to wait it out till Sept 1st to then contact dealers or if your really want to be first call now to make sure when they will have it in transit and when approx at the dealer.

Your best bet is to contact your local dealer directly. Hopefully September 1st can be trusted as an on sale date though.

I have a hard time taking them seriously when they don't even know when the car is coming in.

Heard from 3 local dealers today and they are all saying mid September now.


Just wonder where the car I put a deposit on is sitting. Shipping document said it was in San Pedro port weeks ago.

It probably helps with them getting you to hold on to your money to spend it on them than to move on and spend it elsewhere

If the Carlsbad Scion had 8 iM in inventory before September 1st, could this not also apply to other dealers too? Or are they just holding onto the Scion iM stock and waiting for the green light by Toyota.

Actually this is very possible. I know that dealerships and even the company that owns that dealer and more have lots away from dealerships where they keep vehicles.

So for all we know there could be hundreds of iM's sitting in a lot just patiently waiting to be picked up for Sept 1 delivery.

Some of these lots are hidden and some are in high traffic areas and VERY obvious.

From what I have heard, some of these lots are not specific to one make and are near the transportation that brought them to the city.


There are no specific markings on these lots about their contents.

That's what I said.

They're not allowed to sell the car early, and Toyota won't ship the car to them until they are allowed to sell it. Toyota will hold all cars at the dock until September 1. All this talk of the cars reaching dealerships ahead of schedule is bunk.

I went by a different Scion dealer yesterday and he had no idea that September 1st was the release date. Then to top it off he goes to the Scion website to find out about it.....lol. In other words, he knew zilch about the car.


Totally clueless.

Actually a lot of dealers have been posting about having introduction events around the twelfth.
