Orange Virus is releasing its tuner in August. The company was not very informative with what it will be capable of doing.. as we do not have turbos you can only mess with timing... also for $650.. I don't see this tuner being worth it. I hope I am wrong.

It seems kind of sketchy to me, don't we have some kind of special valve timing mechanism controlled by the ecu? Or is it set up by a different chip/memory this product doesn't touch?

Questions with more questions lol. I hope they put up a video or some dyno sheets! It'll still be a while before i touch the ecu, i'd like to upgrade the rotors, brakes, and stiffen the chassis first.

Our engine is the 2ZR-FAE which is the VALVMATIC which is ECM controlled/electronic motor. The ECM takes inputs from several sensors around the motor and makes calculations and makes adjustments to outputs such as Valves and control modules for example the continuously variable valve lift controller. Which is the valvematic portion of our motor the black box on the side of the engine next to the airbox.

The difference between our motor the 2ZR-FAE and the other Corolla motor 2ZR-FE is the Valvematic system used to control in intake lift and duration of how long it stays open. I have also provided a picture of what I am talking about I have circled the Variable Valve Lift Controller in the picture.

I am not going to disagree with that but I just want some proof of the claims before I fork over $600. Show me the Dyno results or some videos of the IM in action with the tuning device in use. Other tuners ie Cobb.. have plenty of videos showing you how to use it what you can do with it even though it is pretty straight forward. That's all I am saying just wish there was more "proof" to see before purchase. YouTube has nothing most of the reviews I have found are garbage.

Hello everyone,

sorry to catch up with this thread so late, we had a issue with being able to log onto this forum.

The current information on our site is about to be updated very soon. Regarding tuning the iM / Corolla.. here is what we can do.

There is so much more possible than just altering ignition.

Currently we have access to both the CVT and MT,
Tables include:
Throttle control / Torque control for throttle
Valve tming control tables for various engine temperatures. The ECU uses a multi table system for targeting different valve advances based on engine load, engine RPM, and engine temperature.
Ignition timing
Fuel tables / fuel target
Rev limiter(s)
Shift control (CVT)
and many other tables including load switch over for acceleration demand,
injector control tables etc.

it's not quite all finished up yet but will be soon. We do have full access to flash the ECU and have the firmware for them, we're right now dissecting additional needed tables for some ecus.
we've been working on the ECU for over a year now, it took al ong time to get safe access to flashing the stock ECU, but it's now possible.

We are also looking into turbo kit options for the scion iM. If there is enough interest we may build one.

For the 2ZR-FE Corolla..
We have been working with TurboKits to develop a OEM ECU reflash for their turbo kit

The turbo kit would be a great addition to the car. If you have the ability with the tuner to then go in and make adjustments to boost and everything else that goes with the turbo controls. Still would like those dyno sheets for the tuner...

Our 91 octane CVT results are now available.

We are quite happy with what we have seen so far and this is not even straining this little engine.
We remapped the throttle and torque models for better immediate response and transmission response.

VTC / Valvematic valve control system has been calibrated on the dyno to achieve as much more airflow entering the cylinder as possible with ignition matched to suite to bring more torque to the engine everywhere.
Ignition timing, fuel mapping, compensations and much more have all been tuned for more, safe, power.

see the results and info on our site. Our post count does not allow us to post in here yet sorry

Note, we expect even better results are possible as we push the engine further. Our tune kits are not listed at our sale price, and will come with 6 months of free development updates.
We expect even better results on a Manual transmission vehicle that does not have any transmission limitations, where we can rev it out to 7200+ RPM.

Okay, I'm getting very excited about this for my 6MT iM!!! Now much more HP and TQ are we talking about compared the the stock 137HP and torque?

I contacted the company and ask a lot of questions and they were very helpful. Here is all of the information I acquired. I hope this software does something and makes the car faster or else it is a very expensive Toyota TechStream program that I have from work Toyota Tech.

Included:
OBD2 wire
Software
Tunes
(you need a windows laptop to complete the rest.)

This is straight from the email. "There is much more than 2hp, that is just the peak number, over the RPM range there was 7-9 ftlbs gain and 5-8 horsepower up top.
Only the peak horsepower (right at rev limit) is 2hp difference."

Information about asking about the 6 months of free tunes. "6 months means we update your tune, customize / modify for up to 6 months. Any new tunes we have available you can receive for free"

When I asked about what happens after the 6 month period they stated "We do not have a cost outlined yet, as this is still a new platform. But usually it's like our others, updates are $49.00"

They went on to add that we just send them a list of our mods and what fuel (91 or 93) and they will tune it.

The software included also allows you to read and clear check engine lights. All tunes are locked by them so you can not "Blow up your engine". Also the price will last until the end of the year $499. I most likely will be purchasing in late October early November time. I will do a review on it for you guys and give you my thoughts. I think the tuner will be worth it.

If anyone has the software and tuned their car please share your thoughts. I would be very interested to hear about it.

I think we were all a bit disappointed with the low number bump but I assume it should go up with other mods in place.
