At the LA Auto Show Scion presented the Scion C-HR Concept. It is exactly the same as the Toyota C-HR Concept, but it's still very exciting because this gives us a preview of what to expect with Scion's upcoming crossover, and also will add a vehicle to the Scion lineup that is purely Scion, not rebadged from another brand.

Scion says that the vehicle will be aimed at 'yuccies', who are apparently young, urban creatives looking for a fun and affordable city SUV.

As for the design, Scion says, "Polarizing is ok. Boring is not.”

The production model should come out sometime in 2016.

That is one weird looking vehicle.
It is, I've been trying to my imagination along with examples of SUV's already out from Toyota along with the design language from Lexus/Toyota/Scion that they're moving towards. Overall i'm quite confident in what the production model will look like since I have yet to be disappointed by any production designs.

Keep in mind that other vehicles in this segment are the Juke and the NX (though at a luxury level). The segment leans toward more exciting types of design.
This segment also includes more practical shapes like the Honda HR-V and Renegade. They just went more Juke-like with Scion.
So glad I got the RAV4 because this CUV will not work for me.

It is interesting all the different directions each maker went within this segment. It does make it interesting at least.

The more I look at this the more I wish it were on 18's with low profile tires and lowered about 2 inches almost tucking tire. All flat black murdered out would be pretty neat. It has a wide stance for the shape of the body.

What's going to help for now to get a sense of what the production model will look like is looking at other current models and 'connecting the dots' with specific design cues.

One of them being the dip (or whatever you want to call it) on the rear bumper right before it curves over to the side portion of the bumper, it's something the Lexus RC has that we could see with this model, just maybe not as crazy as on the RC.

The more I look at this the more it grows on me. The rear looks like it'd be interesting to wash and wax but I'm sure it'll get toned down once it hits production. Wonder if my gf would trade in her tC for it lol

I'm very interested in this car as I don't comfortably fit in the iM (or any current Scion for that matter). I really don't fit in the Juke so I am skeptical. The thing I can't figure out (and prolly won't until the production model) is how you would open the hatch without clipping the taillights.

Not sure. It could have a pull out and then up type motion. Or perhaps a lot more of the back opens than it would appear so the taillights entirely lift up with the rest of the hatch.

Not sure though.

I understand it is a concept model, but I look at it as a usable vehicle. The video I saw had the Scion guy saying they really wanted the prod model to keep the lights. I just don't see how that will happen. The only possibility of keeping the lights and having a functional t-gate would be to have a Land Cruiser style where the middle has a break and the top folds up and the bottom folds down. But I don't see how the "Scion" budget will allow for that.
