You might want to consider a few audio upgrades to mask the road noise the iM lets seep into the cabin...

In keeping with Scion’s strategy of “mono spec” pricing, there’s really only two things to consider with the iM — color and transmission. The same Pioneer audio system comes in all models (with or without navigation as a dealer-installed option, for which there is no dedicated button and confused the **** out of a monkey like me), Bluetooth streaming and steering wheel-mounted controls. Can you hear the stereo? Because you should turn it up. Up a little more. The iM lets in a little more road noise than it should.

I wonder if there are any easy ways to insulate the car more to protect against road noise. With a car like the iM I wasn't expecting the road noise to be completely under control anyway. I'm pretty happy to turn up the volume.

i am going to put 5% -10% tint all windows. it will reduce some noise. then i will put a aftermarket exhaust (either catback or axleback) and make louder to annoy others.

Funny that other reviews were impressed that it wasn't very noisy, but not whisper quiet , of course.
Let's test drive it ourselves first. :)

FWIW, Alex ***** (Alex on Autos) actually measured the sound levels and said it was quieter than the Corolla, which most reviewers consider to be a reasonably quiet car (vs., say, the Civic or the Mazda3).
I saw that too. Other reviews have mentioned that there is sound deadening material added to the iM which helps it be quieter than the Corolla.
