Matrix Overlap?

In Canada Toyota still sells the Toyota Matrix, with the iM essentially a Corolla Hatch is there really room in Canadian showrooms for both the Matrix and the iM?

I don't think there is room for a Matrix with the iM coming out, and seeing how it's current 2nd generation model came out in 2009, it seems to be that it's production cycle is coming to an end. So the iM could very well be it's replacement.

But we know the iM will be badged a Scion, so I'm not sure we can consider it a direct replacement just yet. But they did kill the Matrix in the states just last year so... not sure...
Two totally different cars.

aimed at the same demographic...
Ugh... Im tired of being told I bought a Matrix.

:serious:
I don't think it would be a stretch to say its a successor to the Matrix in some ways, at least on this side of the pond anyways. Just for kicks, I kinda-sorta want to buy the Matrix nameplate, throw the iM part back on, and add like a letter "a" in there somewhere. iMaMatrix.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Matrix reached the end of its production in Canada soon after the iM's release, or it could get redesigned to differentiate itself more from the iM.
The iM is the 3rd Gen Matrix which are all a Corolla HB. Why do you think they used the "M" in iM? If Scion didn't need the help at the time this may have been called the Corolla Matrix 3rd Gen. Why someone would care I'm not sure. I loved our 2007 Corolla Matrix XR and I love my 2017 Corolla iM. :D
