Yup:
1.8-litre engine matched to 6-speed manual or 7-speed CVT gearbox
I think a 1.8 or 1.6 liter engine was what's said to make it to the iM, which ever one it is, a manual matched up to it would be awesome.

From the teasers they released they seem to be going the sporty, enthusiast-focused route, so hopefully is it what happens.

the only thing I can see holding them back is cost considerations. When you go to sell a car in the US every transmission and engine combo has to be certified even if its already in another US model. However because the Auris/iM is technically a Corolla there is a possibility that they can circumvent the rules by using existing Corolla drivetrain...

I hope not!!

Manual transmission? Who uses manuals anymore? You're telling me I have to put my latte down to shift a lever for no apparent reason? Time marches on -- automatic in my iM...
well we know its not for no apparent reason, unless you like grinding first gear all the way to the bank :D;)

Different strokes for different folks, I'm non pulsed that you desire a slushbox, your choice right. I'm a big fan of choice, it just bothers me when were monospec'ed.. ah well, dying breed... :crying:
