Headlights retrofit

Hi,

I read entire forum and I did not find anything on the retrofit topic. Are there any projectors that mount easily? I would get stock HID 4300K bulbs in stock HID projectors. Therefore, I am thinking Lexus projectors would be good.

I do not want to get a cheap plug'n'play HID kit.

Would new Corolla LED's fit our iM?

I would say retro-fit wise, Morimoto is the place to check out ?

Absolutely. I am trying to stick to OEM as much as possible. In addition to Morimoto, the best places I found so far:

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/

https://www.lightwerkz.net/

However, what type of projectors would fit our iM? That's the hardest part. Ballasts and bulbs are easier to figure out.

Upgrading the Projectors is a good idea for the iM...the stock lens is dimpled and not very clear...so the Light Pattern and spread sucks even when just installing a HID Kit....Plus inside the iM Projector has those "squirrel Finder tabs" that makes the light pattern all funky too.
Just be careful when opening since theres a lot of electronics inside the headlight unit.

Yea the Morimoto HID Kit is one of the best kits out there...I installed it on my iM w/ the 5500k color.
Hi!

I just bought a new Toyota IM and I'm wondering if you can give me more information about the retro fit you installed on your Scion IM. I'm looking to do something like that. Is it complicated, wich part I need?

Thanks!

PS : Sorry for my bad english.

Two places that I had listed are probably your best choices to research and buy proper projectors and bulbs. Before you start your retrofit you need to know what projectors are going to fit.

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/

https://www.lightwerkz.net/

So you need:

- HID Projectors
- HID ballasts
- HID bulbs

Since I love OEM, I would suggest to get something out of Toyota/Lexus/Acura/Infiniti stock HID projectors. DENSO ballasts and Philips 4300K bulbs. Lexus/Acura/Infiniti OEM HID bulbs are all 4300K and it will be sufficient for anyone + it will look like factory stock HID. Anything above 5000K will look "rice" - purple or blue-ish and those will also be darker in general (which kills the whole point of doing a retrofit).

If you want to go aftermarket, Morimoto is probably the most popular out there.

If you haven't done a retrofit, I would go to a decent local shop that can do it for you. Retrofit usually involves:
- Taking off your front bumper
- Taking off your headlights
- Baking your headlights in the oven to soften up the glue
- Disassembling your headlights, replacing projectors, replacing factory glue with new compound
- Assembling the whole thing
- Installing it back on your car
- CORRECTING light beam pattern, so you don't blind oncoming traffic
- Enjoying factory look and performance :)

Here is a decent video showing step-by-step process:

Many thanks for all the informations - it is really appreciated.

I did not found any retro-kit that specificly fit on a Toyota/Scion IM. I will try to see if there are some compatible retrofit. :D:nerd:

iM is a newer model and it is also not super popular, so they don't have a specific kit for our car yet. I would call TheRetrofitSource or LightWerkz and talk to them directly. I am sure they can answer most questions and find a good projector + ballasts + bulbs for you.

I'm guessing no one has found out anything further on this projector retrofit and what might work?
