Folding mirrors

Am I the only one that thinks it is ridiculous that the mirrors don't automatically close when the car is locked and unfold when the car is started?? What is so special about this feature that I haven't realized yet? There is a kit on ebay for this, but it is from taiwan and that concerns me a tad bit.

Parking is tighter in a lot of other countries (think every space is compact parking). It's also handy in city street parking so someone doesnt rip off your mirror when they pass by ridiculously close.

But yes I was thinking the other day that there should be an auto function. Perhaps someone on here will get bugged by it enough that they'll hook it up to the headlight auto off lines haha

I saw that kit on eBay as well... I trust it about as much as I'd trust "a clock" made in Syria >:D

Affordable cars usually don't have those type of features. i think that you are feeling lucky because Scion iM comes with so much.
I believe what you meant to say Briggs is that I am taking for granted what the Scion already comes with, but I'm really not. Ikarus brought up a valid point, but I would think that's something they would market instead of having them park it in the woods with the mirrors folded. There are plenty of "features" on the car that I like, but feel are wasted technology and could have the money allocated towards something better. Everyone has an opinion and that's just mine. Not saying anyone else doesn't have a valid point, but I felt the mirrors were pointless until someone pointed out why they could be useful. I don't feel "lucky", perhaps short changed at times.
I have this really weird baseless hunch that they (the higher ups) probably told the scion guys that you can have these as standard but those you don't get. Perhaps I'm giving it too much credence lol but there are some standard features that I would have gladly sacrificed for others, the power folding mirrors for one.
Only the Sequoia and Tundra (in top model versions) come with power folding mirrors here in Canada from what I've seen. The fact that an entry level car has them at all in that price range is amazing for me at this point. I dunno, "ridiculous" seems a bit overboard for something like non-automatic folding mirrors that you really only need in tight spaces. Personally, as much as I love having them because it reminds me of being back in Japan, I think it is ridiculous that countries in North America, with our giant parking spaces and roads compared to Japan, even need power folding mirrors, lol.

Yep, heated seats, or built in sub. Heck, a just the rca outs on the deck would be better than having to get $200 in adapters to keep steering wheel controls and rear view camera PLUS a new head unit to be able to use a sub/amp that you would also have to acquire.

True but since we have them, I suggest using them at Costco Target Walmart and the like. One time a guy rammed his shopping on my mirror when he tried forcing himself between cars. He paused after the initial hit, backed up and did a 1 degree turn, hit my mirror again and just kept going. Would've went off on him if I wasn't there as an outside vendor who had to maintain a healthy business relationship.
Some people are just inconsiderate, and a busy retail setting also tends to bring out the worst in people.

I don't think you've checked the Koreans.
