Alright so I just realized the Valvematic is something different....does it replace VVT-i?

or does the motor still have VVT-i?

Valvematic is a progression from the previous generation dual VVT-i power plants because as well as varying the valve timing according to throttle inputs, it can also adjust the valve lift. The end result is greater efficiency manifested in better fuel economy and more power.

Thanks....

I see a lot of iM Owners w/ side door decals "VVT-i DOHC" so I thought it was wrong....Thought I double check!
lol that is definitely wrong, it does not have VVT-i it has valvematic.
The 2zr-fae has both variable valve timing and variable valve lift. It's is dual vvt-i with the variable valve lift added to it
Because of the addition of the variable valve lift they changed the name to valvematic.

Exactly....people seem to still believe its "VVT-i" I guess they really wanna represent it on their car which is pretty ridiculous

Yeah I've seen it once surprisingly. Reminded me of all the Hondas with VTEC DOHC. Not bagging on it but it's not like it's a turbocharger or something you know.
It is a misnomer.

Technically, the 2ZR-FAE has dual VVT-i. The only difference is the addition of valvematic system on the intake side.

Read up.
