Smart move with a vehicle that will have to last 7-8 years or how ever long, entering an age with pre-collision tech on this level and on much more advanced levels, allowing it to stay relevant.
but is it on the iM? I assume the iA has it becasue Mazdas have it...Conti Temec (Continental) provides the system as a third-party module that is then tailored by Toyota/Mazda software/algorithm engineers and then validated by Toyota/Mazda validation engineers.
Engineering costs aside, I wonder how much each module costs. If it's $100 or so at the OEM wholesale level, I could see this feature expanding into many cars priced at $20,000 and above.
It's not listed for the iM on the Product Information sheet so I don't think so.but is it on the iM? I assume the iA has it becasue Mazdas have it...
no but brake assist is nice, at least if you are braking in an emergency situation the car will assist. although in an emergency stop you should be putting your foot through the floor...Never mind, I see it isn't the same thing. Doesn't look like the iM will have it.
its an override to protect against unintended acceleration. th brake pedal takes precedence in the case of a stuck throttle or whatever.Or is this basically roll back protection?
SMART STOP TECHNOLOGY™ [SST][3]

True street smarts.
SST is included in every new Scion to help reduce engine power when both brake and gas are pressed at the same time under certain conditions.
Scion added the braking system enhancement known as Smart Stop Technology. This advanced technology automatically reduces engine power when both pedals are pressed at the same time under certain conditions.
Smart Stop Technology intervenes when the accelerator is depressed first (Figure 1) and the brakes are applied firmly for longer than one-half second at speeds greater than five miles per hour. (Figure 2)
In normal driving conditions, you won't notice Smart Stop Technology, as it is imperceptible. The feature doesn't engage if the brake pedal is depressed before the accelerator pedal.
This allows time for the driver to move from brake to acceleration when starting on a steep hill to accelerate, helping to avoid rolling backward.
Scion installed Smart Stop Technology in all models starting in 2011, making it one of the first brands to add this braking technology as standard equipment
Sounds like it.its an override to protect against unintended acceleration. th brake pedal takes precedence in the case of a stuck throttle or whatever.
