Delcon here. What I'd like to do with my iM!

Hello all!

First off, I'm Delcon... you can call me Del , if you so choose :p I just bought a '16 (23.4k miles) Black Sand (tinted), 6-speed manual iM in July, and have been loving every minute of my purchase! Throughout this time, I have been doing as much research as I can on making my iM my own. Then I came about this site, and have traversed through the forums looking for any and all information I could use to make any changes that I may fancy. I have found plenty of information, but am trying to pin point what it is that I'm looking for and where I can purchase it (being that many of the links from previous years are 404 or link to something that is not available anymore). So I figured making a list of changes that I'm wanting to do, and asking the iM hive mind, would help me get things to where I'd like them to be.

Body: I have researched plenty and noticed there aren't many items that are made specifically for an iM. The last thing I, or any of us, is order something that you think may work. Upon getting it, however, finding there are slight differences that cause you to have send back and continue your search. With that, I'm wondering what others have used that would be compatible with an iM.

Air Intake and Exhaust: I'm sure I could find a compatible air intake and exhaust, but trying to find the best combination that will add HP and torque, but have the low sounding, performance sound. Not really into the higher pitch, loud af exhaust that some people cringe at. Want that pleasant sound while I'm cruising

Computer Performance: This is where I don't have much knowledge in at all, so I'm open to any suggestions or information you may have! What brought me to this though, is that I noticed at points when I've released the gas, the RPMs will hold at high rate for a moment. I do understand that the engine is still burning the fuel given to it, but it just seems to be an abnormally long time before it starts to drop. My hypothesis being that this had to do something electronically... something that could be changed with a computer or chip. Please tell me I'm wrong, lol!

Supercharger? Turbo?: Some say why, some say why not. At this point, I'm just curious to know what will work. Yes... I'd like to have a bit more get up, if I chose to... but how much can a 1.8 liter, 4 stroke take before it becomes a problem? What HP/torque levels can an iM comfortably top out? I'd like to just know what is possible :)

Car Sounds: You know the standard sound all Toyota's have when you hit your unlock on the key fob? Yeah... I wanna get rid of that, haha! No sound, but lights flashing, would be preferred! Figured that be something you could change with a computer, but again, let me know if I'm wrong! Aaaaand.... probably gonna change the horn, too!

For now, that's my list! I'm sure there will be other things I will learn about as time goes on, but i gotta start somewhere! Thank you to those that have taken the time to read through and respond to this. I really appreciate the help!

Me and several others I believe have the DNA Motoring cat back, and have been happy with it. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound, none of the raspy tin can ricer noise I was afraid of. Not sure what their availability is any more, might check eBay.

I also have an AEM short CAI and have no complaints.

The horn was one of the first things I changed. As far as the beep, there is an app for that. https://caristaapp.com/ does require a wireless ODB2 adapter, you can use theirs or others work also. Among the customizations it allows you to do (which includes everything mentioned in the manual the dealer can do, and much more), you can either change the volume of the beep, or just turn it off.
Thank you Gcomer! I'll look into these for sure!

Spoiler: There are two available for the iM.
Ground Effects: There is a group in PR that has made some parts but everyone has used Universal fit parts or some from another vehicle.
Grill: Nothing I have seen.

Intake: It is almost identical to the 2012+ Toyota Corolla.
Exhaust: I have yet to do this but DNA seems to be pretty popular.
Have very reasonable expectations here. At best you are talking about a 5 HP bump.

Programmer: OV Tune is the only place to have a full tune available right now and they are out of stock for a while.
Many of us have done a Pedal programmer which allows for a much quicker pedal response.
And there is the JET MAF replacement.

Turbo/Supercharger: In theory, completely doable as we have the same powertrain as the Corolla and it has a Turbo option. No one has done it yet because of the cost.

Sounds: The Horn is a very generic horn that is easily replaced. The rest, not sure if anything can be changed.
