Could TRD Replace Scion?

Lets be honest, Scion never sparked the wave of youthful revolution it was tasked with at outset. However Toyota thinks they may have a solution... TRD badges on Corollas and Camrys...

Today Automotive News reports that following the success of their Toyota Racing Development edition trucks, Toyota is set to do TRD editions of their other passenger cars in a bid to attract younger, more performance-minded buyers.
Toyota Hopes TRD Performance Cars Will Bring In The Youths Scion Didn't

Could TRD succeed where Scion has failed?

I could see that working perhaps. TRD would work in conjunction with Toyota instead of trying to be an off shoot. If they did do that, then I think they would shut down or completely reinvent Scion at the same time.
It would be a good move to make and fact is, some people don't like the scion badge, the FR-S was a good example.
only thing is TRD would migrate the price north, which in effect would give toyota that go between them and lexus...
That's something i'd like to see, performance in a cheaper platform, no need to spend lexus dollars although you'll still be behind by a bit, but of course that's how it has to be.
Do other brands have a comparable badge? Would it be like a sportier Buick?

sportier buick? with what they currently have? Maybe the regal, but sportier and buick... don't go together.
well think about it, if toyota sells a sportier corolla doest that make scion repetitive>

Yes, but the whole point was having TRD replace Scion, so that would kind of make sense and support the theme of the the thread.
being repetitive is almost never good
greater chance to bring up some issues with the sales of both.
