I think most any new head unit you put in will require an adapter to work with the existing controls. iDataLink makes such adapters, and I've heard good things about them. https://maestro.idatalink.com/ Catch would be picking a head unit that was compatible with it as well.

Almost every aftermarket headunit will require an adapter to utilize the steering wheel controls
