went to work monday and traded my tacoma in on the only IM we had, black one, really wanted blue, but that meant dealer trade. showed the car to my wife on sunday and said the black liked good. let her drive it that night and now she wants one for herself. installed body side moldings, rubber mats, mud flaps, upgrade to navi radio, light kit, and tinted the windows. been a busy week:D:D

Nice Congrats!! Is the radio the same with the nav added to it? I traded in my crew max for mine but love it so far.
yes the radios are the same, but to get navi, you need the kit. the extension box, gps antenna, cables. thats it!! super easy, the light kit was harder to install.

Did you install the navi yourself? The OEM headunit has two receptacles for plug harnesses that are not used without it .... I'm curious if both of them are utilized with the navi?
yes i did, i am a toyota/scion tech so i got paid to install my own stuff ( bonus!!) yes 2 connectors from the extension box go to the radio and then the bluetooth cable from the car gets moved to the box,
So do you think this would be easy for people who aren't Scion techs?

Well poop! So, there's no way to get some RCA outs without tapping into the factory wiring then... That SUCKS!

It's easy enough for even a newb to do it, one of the easier things to do but the first time around it will take you longer than someone with experience.

Sorry to be off topic a bit, but how hard and how expensive would this be for a RAV4? Are there step-by-step instructions with the kits so a complete amateur like me could do this?
If i wanted to do it myself, can i buy all the equipment online ?

There's a good chance you'll be able to , these days you can get just about anything online. Just have search for exactly what you need and where to get it.

I did find this kit on ebay for pioneer headunits, im not sure if it would work in the IM but at that price i might just keep using my phone instead :p

Search "Scion iM" on eBay... it comes up 849.99 free shipping.

I found it for 350$ US ( 463$ CAN) with about 20$ shipping.

Pioneer ADD ON GPS Navigation KIT FOR Select Pioneer Headunits With Traffic | eBay

Not sure if it would work tho, but seems like it would
That would be a bit risky... the model years its listed as supporting stop at 2013, and those are all aftermarket Pioneer headunits not OEM stereos.

See if the seller will let you return it for a full refund if it does not work.

the scion kit is super easy to install, the dealer will be able to print off the instructions for you if you buy it from them, or they should print them for you.
