Has anybody added an aftermarket alarm with remote start yet? Whats some good brands to look into? I have a cheap viper setup in my old car and the remotes started not working right and the siren wasn't consistent, sometimes it would chirp loud and sometimes you could barely hear it when arming or disarming. Are the higher end vipers pretty solid or is there something better now?

I did. I put in a compustar set up. It is a 7200 brain (remote start only) and a compustar rf kit with an idatalink blade AL bypass but I changed one feature in the programming options table which turned it into an alarm kind of. There is no shock sensor and no siren but if someone opens the door the horn will honk. I can always add a siren and shock sensor to it. N

Shock sensor might be worth it if you think there might be a chance someone thief will tow away your car or something. Don't want to find it in nigeria

Shock sensors are great as long as you can adjust it's sensitivity.
