brake replacement and upgrades

Hello all. Need some info for front brake rotor and pad replacement. Stick with OEM dealer parts or go with upgrades from tirerack.
Any advise will be helpful and appreciated.

Hi there. I've been noticing that the forum isn't quite active anymore. If you haven't already, join the facebook group "iM Enthusiasts" and any questions asked should be answered quicker there than here.

For my two cents to your question, OEM for me is a little too pricey lol. I haven't had to change my rotors yet, but I hear the Powerstop Evolution Geomet Coated Kit or the Powerstop Z23 Evolution Sport Brake Upgrade Kit on Rockauto are good. I did change my brake pads about a year ago though. KFE ceramic brake pads off Amazon. No problems at all. Will change rotors on next brake pad change though.

Good luck!

I replaced my brakes to the platinum rotors and pads from advance auto parts and haven’t had a problem with them.

I just upgraded my rotors and pads on my 2009 Corolla S Turbo 5MT with EBC slotted rotors and Redstuff pads. The difference from stock is amazing! I just took a 5300-mile trip last month on back roads and through the western mountain states. I was very hard on the brakes in the canyons and they performed beautifully. The dust was at a minimum and less than stock. I'll put these rotors and pads on my Corolla iM before the OEM pads even need to be replaced.

Installed R1Concepts (Eline Series). I used the same brand on my supra.

Its been a year now for my supra and about 6 months on the iM. I can't even say anything bad about them. Just avoid wheel cleaning products (bad for brake parts). This way, the zinc coating will be preserved.

Attached pics are before and after break-in.
